The story of Emergency Medicine Camps (EMC) dates back to 2021, when a bold idea emerged: to combine the beauty and challenges of nature with healthcare training. The first EMC event was the Olhava Emergency Medicine Camp. The aim of the event was not only to improve the safety of people moving in the area, but also to highlight the demanding conditions of Repovesi National Park from the perspective of rescue and medical care.
The team grew rapidly, and together we set out to build events that combined various activities as part of multidisciplinary simulations. The patient care pathway was practiced from a rock climbing wall, the forest, or a lake all the way through to the urgency of the emergency department.
This unique, realistic approach has been at the heart of EMC events and has later continued through the Pyhä and Hanko Emergency Medicine Camps.
Over the years, and as the team has grown, additional training activities have been developed a lot. Our instructors include experienced specialists, physicians, paramedics, and nurses.
We also have a simulation training facility in Malmi, Helsinki, where we organize training days in Finnish.
At the beginning of 2024, we also launched our own training shop, offering a wide range of courses for all healthcare professionals in finnish.
The EMC brand is supported by Suomen Laatupäivystys Oy, a provider of social and healthcare services that has grown into a valued partner of wellbeing services counties. Partnership with Laatupäivystys goes beyond physician staffing—it represents a comprehensive commitment to developing multidisciplinary healthcare services in collaboration with clients and staff. From the very beginning, the stories of EMC and Laatupäivystys have been closely intertwined with the development of both education and everyday healthcare practice. At the core of all activities has been—and will always be—high-quality and safe patient care.
EMC’s mission is to deliver high-quality, hands-on, and impactful training for healthcare professionals. Our vision is to play our part in ensuring that patients receive the best possible care, while professionals continually develop their expertise and skills. At the core of our work is the idea that learning means change in everyday practice. We also aim to act as a bridge between organizations, promoting collaboration and shared learning experiences.
Welcome to EMC camps!
